Last weekend, our motto was: “Ready, steady, dough!”
Eleven highly motivated amateur bakers competed against each other to prove their skills at the Great TCKT bake-off and, of course, to win the Golden Cupcake.
The technical test sounded harmless at first, but as it is so often the case: “The devil is in the details!” The challenge was to make five punch cakes of equal size, perfectly glazed, with moist sponge cake and just the right amount of rum. Sounds easy? It wasn't!
The kitchen was buzzing: there was stirring, glazing, swearing, and laughing. Some glazes just didn't want to cooperate with their bakers, while other sponge cakes were “a little tricky.” But in the end, all eleven participants proudly presented their five little masterpieces.
The jury didn't have an easy job, but in the end, only one winner could claim the title of “TCKT Hobby Baker of the Year 2025” – and, of course, the well-deserved applause of their colleagues and the unique Golden Cupcake.
