Kids-Day at TCKT

Kids-Day at TCKT 25.08.2025 | Category: Recent events

On the first TCKT Kids-Day, the children of our employees were invited to accompany their parents to work and learn about plastics. The group of nine children, aged between eight and 13, first learned some basics about how plastics are made, the different types of polymers and what can be made with them. They then had the opportunity to shred PET bottles and old plastic toys themselves and produce colourful filament with the extruder. The kids enjoyed a break with fruit and cake and took part in the TCKT exercise session, during which all employees are allowed to take a short sports-break.
In the second part, small boats were produced using 3D printing and colourful test specimens were injection moulded. These were then tested in tensile and charpy properties, whereby the children were taught about the different behaviours of plastic types. One of the highlights for the kits was a visit at Christoph's colourful duck collection, which already includes over 150 different squeaky ducks from all over the world.
The event concluded with a short plastics quiz and pizza for everyone. Many thanks to all the technicians involved and our boss, Christoph, who made this day possible for the TCKT-youngsters! It was a great experience for the kids!
